An amazing diving adventure with schooling hammerheads, Galapagos sharks, whitetip reef sharks and silky sharks but be ready for surprises. Whale sharks make regular fly-bys and mantas and eagle rays are almost guaranteed.

Malpelo Island is a mile long rocky pinnacle located 250 miles off the coast of Panama. Only one dive boat is allowed at the island at any time so the reefs are pristine. With such an abundance of marinelife creating a feast for enormous schools of pelagic fishes, the shark action at Malpelo is undoubtedly some of the best in the world.

If, like me, you have been lucky enough to encounter many of the world's top ocean predators, you may be asking yourself what now? Join me on an expedition to film and photograph one of the world's most illusive big shark species: the Smalltooth Sandtiger Shark.

Itinerary: 11 days adventure to Malpelo Island

Day 1: Board the Inula around 12:00 noon in Puerto Pedregal near the City of David in the Rep.of Panama. After checking in, a quick briefing and lunch, we will exit David in the afternoon, and cross the barrier reef shortly before sunset. Sailing through the night.

Day 2: Check out dive in the morning at Isla Montuosa, one additional dive during the day in the vicinity, departing for Malpelo

Day 3: Crossing to Malpelo

Day 4: Arrival at Malpelo in the morning, clearing in, 3 dives

Day 5-8: Diving around Malpelo, 3 dives per day

Day 9: 3 dives around Malpelo, departure in the evening

Day 10: Sailing back to the coast of Panama

Day 11: 2 dives at Hannibal Bank and Islas Ladrones, arriving in
Puerto Pedregal in the evening or next morning

Day 12/End: Checking out after breakfast

Exact timing and locations may vary depending on tides and weather

The Inula - Your home away from home.

What to expect on the Inula:

Accommodation:
The inula sleeps nine guests in two above decks cabins with two twin beds, two below decks cabins with two bunk beds, and one single cabin. The cabins are small but comfortable.
Cabins are booked on a first come, first served basis so if you would like a slightly larger, brighter cbin or if prefer a cheaper below decks cabin, please book your spot as soon as possible.

Food:
Meals on the Inula are simple and delicious. Within reason, the chef is able to cater to individual dietary needs. All meals, snacks and non alcoholic beverages are included in the charter price.

Diving Logistics:
Other than tanks and weights, divers are expected to provide their own diving equipment. Rental equipment is available with prior notice. Nitrox can be arranged for an extra fee.
Dives take place from the Inula's sturdy RIB (Rigid Inflateable Boat).
Expect three dives each day at Malpelo Island as well as two dives on the way to Malpelo at Isla Montuosa and two dives on the way back at Hannibal Bank and Islas Ladrones.

About Malpelo Island:
Malpelo is a volcanic monolith rising thousands of feet from the ocean floor. Other than a small military outpost, it is completely uninhabited.
While at Malpelo, we will have a chance to go ashore to meet the animals that call this barren island home. Expect to see boobies nesting on the rocky cliffs and four species of lizards that are endemic to the isalnd.
Getting ashore is part of the fun. The walls of the island are virtually unscalable so there is a rope ladder suspended on a gantry to allow guests (and Columbian soldiers) access to the rocky plateau.
